Jon Garinn is responsible for communications and marketing in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He supports a world-class department by developing and managing web content, digital assets, service-line marketing, social media and more.

Prior to that, he served as managing editor of CURE magazine, the most widely distributed magazine for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and healthcare professionals. Although much of his writing and editing was about advancements in cancer research, treatment and supportive care, he also wrote about philosophy and religion (he has a master’s degree in divinity from Saint Meinrad School of Theology and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of Belleville in Illinois), art and culture, ethics and social issues, history and politics, life and love.

This is a place for the stuff that won’t fit into the confines of his day job but that he still wants to share.

Jon is an observer of the publishing industry in general, and journalism in particular, passions he developed through working nearly a decade at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News. He’s also a writer who tries to make sense of the world through the power of words. Check out the blog he shares with his spouse, and their blog about traveling in an American icon: an Airstream travel trailer.
